Our staff is extremely excited about this school year, and we are looking forward to a very productive one with your child. Our goal is to provide the best possible education in a safe, caring, child-centered environment.
We feel that it is critical that you as parents, and we as teachers, work together in emphasizing the importance of a good education, and in the development of a positive self-image for your child.
By working together, we can meet this goal! The Butler Creek staff will work hard to nurture each individual's self-esteem, and to also motivate them to become lifelong learners.
Parents are always welcome, and encouraged to become actively involved. If you wish to talk with your child's teacher, please call so a convenient time can be arranged. We have an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA), which will meet every other month. Parent participation is truly appreciated and encouraged.
In closing, we are really looking forward to meeting each of you during this school year! Please do not hesitate to call or stop by if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
Sincerely,
Gayle Sideris
Opened in 2003-2004, Butler Creek celebrates
its twentieth year in the community!
Teachers and staff and Mrs. Sideris and I are committed to secure BC as a Diverse, Equitable and Inclusive School that cultivates an intrinsic sense of belonging for all of its students and other members of the school community. Within an educational setting that is dynamic, inclusive, responsive, and equitable, we will ensure that all of our students have access to educational programs and services in which all identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences are valued and where our shared humanity is affirmed.
And we know that Identity, which includes, but is not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, religion, orientation, and kiddos who are differently-abled and neurodiverse, and belonging, are keys to this foundation from which our learners feel respected, valued, and welcomed. Our commitment to provide a fully inclusive school for students is based upon the knowledge that our 21st Century world continues to evolve and reinvent itself - and our students need the skills and knowledge to be prepared to respond and adapt accordingly.
We invite you to join us in our journey to develop our children as collaborators, inquirers, communicators, innovators, and critical thinkers - to become citizens who will take action to shape their communities that are just and equitable.
It’s a great day to be a Butler Creek Bobcat!
Sincerely,
Karen “Doc” Kennedy
